5 megapixels for amazingly high resolution
A high-performance CCD, a powerful EXILIM engine, and 5 million pixels of resolution produce beautifully detailed images. A 3-segment telescoping 3X optical zoom lens provides plenty of resolution in a thin design. Optical zoom in combination with 4X digital zoom delivers up to 12X total zoom.

Longer battery life than ever before
A new, advance super long life battery provides an amazing amount of operation between charges. The EX-Z55 lets you record 400 images (200 minutes)*1 on a single charge (continuous recording), while the EX-Z50 records 390 images (195 minutes).*1

Power on direct mode access
A REC mode power button lets you start recording in an instant. A PLAY mode power button puts you directly into the PLAY mode for image viewing.
Big monitor screen
CASIO original chip technology makes it possible to equip these models with a big, clear, high-contrast LCD monitor screen. An optical viewfinder window is incorporated into the glass of the EX-Z55 LCD device, which makes it possible to provide a larger display area in a camera that is the same size as previous models.
Super high-speed operation
The amazing speed of the new EXILIM models helps to ensure that they are always ready to capture those special moments whenever you are. Even though they are equipped with a telescoping lens, startup takes only 1.6 seconds*2. Release time lag is a mere 0.01 second*3, and the interval between shots only 2.2 seconds.
*2 Approximate; using built-in memory, built-in flash off.
*3 Approximate time from when the shutter release button is pressed from focus lock until the image starts to be recorded (flash off).
Auto Pan Focus
Pressing the shutter button all the way automatically enters the Pan Focus (PF) mode for high-speed recording. Pan focus immediately performs a record operation without waiting for Auto Focus to be performed, which makes it easier to capture fast-moving subjects and subjects located where lighting is dim.
CIPA Standards
The Camera and Imaging Products Association (CIPA) defines various standards for measuring camera performance, including battery life. These standards help to standardize the battery life values reported in the catalogs and user documentation of different manufacturers, which helps users to better compare different products against each other.
CIPA Standard Battery Life Measurement Conditions
Normal temperature (23°C); unused primary or fully charged secondary battery; monitor on; zoom operation between full wide and full telephoto every 30 seconds; during which two images are recorded with flash; power turned off and back on every time 10 images are recorded. Battery life is time it takes for the power supply to shut down for the first time as recording is repeated under the above conditions. As a general rule, factory default camera setup is used.
