UK QT-6000 Success Story

Country : England
Distributor : CASIO UK
Dealer : Cavendish Cash Registers
User : The Pumphouse
Location : Hornsey, North London

Type of business and profile of user

Johnnie Mountain and David Orlowski, owners of the restaurant business Mosaica, have the knack for turning the most unlikely building and location, such as a disused chocolate factory in Wood Green and a site by the lock at Walthamstow Reservoirs, into thriving restaurants. For their third venture, they have done it again! A magnificent pump house designed for the efficient pumping of fresh water into London in the early 1900s is reminiscent of the great pioneering Victorian era. It is still located in Hornsey, North London and after many years of disuse, Johnnie and David snapped it up at the end of last year to turn it into a modern-european restaurant.

Model Name:

Casio QT-6000

Installation Date:

June 2005

System Configuration

With such a large operation (equating to 270 covers dotted around the mezzanine, bar/dining area and terrace), Johnnie and David knew that customers would need to be served efficiently and decided to install four Casio QT-6000 EPOS terminals for this purpose.

Two of them are positioned behind the bar to give a symmetrical feel, one in the reception area and one next to the DJ turntables upstairs for all the trendy 20s, older well-to-do and family orientated clientele to see.

What was the problem with Pumphouse?

Since the Pumphouse is a new restaurant, there were no existing problems. Johnnie did comment however, that a restaurants' survival is down to creating a perfect dining experience for the customer from beginning to end: "sometimes the customer could have really enjoyed their meal at a given restaurant but would be irritated by the time it takes to make their order or to pay". This is an issue he was keen to avoid.

Why did the Pumphouse select CASIO QT-6000?

Johnnie and David chose the Casio QT-6000 because they felt it was the only terminal equipped with such advanced technology that made the operation simple for their 25 full-time and 15 part-time members of staff through its large touch screen with intuitive drop down lists and user-friendly configuration.

Proposals to the Pumphouse

Johnnie and David already have two successful restaurants in which they use Casio QT-2000s' and QT-2100s'. Since they were already pleased with Casio technology Cavendish Cash Registers proposed an upgraded Casio model.

How did the Pumphouse decide to introduce Casio QT-6000?

Apart from the advanced technology, the cherry on the top was the aesthetics. The whole restaurant oozes style, from the floating mezzanine level supported by the vast cranes positioned in the roof, to the large Warhol prints on the walls, right down to the bright QT-6000 touch screens showing off bitmap images of the trendy drinks and food on offer.

Improvement of customer job after using the CASIO product

The Pumphouse, in its fifth month of operation and with the help of Casio's QT-6000 terminals is already being true to its name, pumping style and business into London!
